WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Please try to book your newborn session at the earliest opportunity possible, I recommend after your 20-week scan. I never book in too many of the same due dates in the one month to ensure I can be flexible if due dates change. When your new baby actually arrives, we can tweak the date and time if needed to ensure we get your little one in for a session during the ideal time frame around 5-14 days old. The earlier the better, while they are still very sleepy. There are some circumstances where newborns will be photographed outside of this time frame, I suggest coming into the studio as soon as you have left the hospital and have the OK from your doctor.

DO YOU WANT MY BABY TO SLEEP DURING THE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Yes, we want your baby to sleep! Once a newborn is sleeping deeply, we can do all of the cute, squishy-baby poses that most mums are looking for.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I am located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. I provide an in home newborn sessions.

HOW LONG WILL MY BABY PHOTOGRAPHY NEWBORN SESSION LAST?

Full newborn sessions are anywhere from three to four hours long allowing enough time for feeding and comforting. The session can sometimes be shorter, but we allow up to four hours to make sure there is plenty of time available to capture all the images you are hoping for.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Simple is best. I often photograph newborns wrapped or wearing nothing. I recommend that the rest of the family wear light coloured or black clothing that coordinates, please avoid logos, busy patterns, and bright colours. I recommend that you dress lightly for a newborn photography session because we keep the room very warm for your little one’s comfort.

DO YOU PROVIDE THE NEWBORN PROPS?

I provide everything from knits, hats, headbands, newborn wraps, backdrops, and all props. If you have a particular outfit you would like me to photograph baby in or some special blanket or toy to be included in the pictures, I will be happy to do so.

WHAT PHOTOS CAN I EXPECT FROM MY NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTO SHOOT?

During a newborn photography shoot, we capture a few set-ups and take advantage of every angle. Basically you can expect baby curled up in the nest/props if you like that style, baby posed on the blankets, a few awake portraits of the baby, family photos, sibling with the baby photos. In addition to posed pics I may offer a few simple style shots of your baby wearing his own romper or white onesie, parents love those natural style photos too! We discuss your preferences at the beginning of the session.

I HAVE SIBLINGS I WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE IN OUR NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY, HOW DOES IT WORK?

I absolutely love newborn shots with their siblings! I usually do them first since toddlers especially don’t have the patience to wait around for baby to feed and settle.
