New born baby photography – all about your session.

New born baby photography helps you to capture those early days when your baby is at its tiniest. I love looking at past portraits of my child and love that I can provide that to families. 

Babies grow at such an incredible rate. Newborns are best photographed on days 6-14 after birth when they are still super sleepy and bendy. Sometimes you may need a little more time for a variety of reasons. I’m experienced and confident to capture newborn sessions for babies up to 4-6 weeks old.

I work at my home-studio on the Northern Beaches. I have a range of props, studio lights, and everything you’ll need for your new born photoshoot. Occasionally I bring a mobile studio to my client’s home when requested.

My sessions start early in the mornings (this is when babies are generally more content) and run for up to 2 – 4 hours. This may seem like a long time, but all sessions are entirely baby-led, with some parts of the session completely dedicated to feeding your baby and getting them settled and comfortable. Does your little one need a feed or change? There’s plenty of time for that.

During the session, I aim to capture a few different set-ups (different poses, props, etc). I always choose quality over quantity with new born baby photography sessions. Some babies like to sleep, some do not! I work at your baby’s pace and never rush the session for your baby’s safety and comfort.

It is a beautiful time to have family portraits with your new addition. Mum, Dad and siblings with the baby photos are included in the sessions.

At some point during the session, I often take time to photograph babies in a plain onesie or simple wrap for a few simple but quality portraits. As much as we love adorable newborn poses in props, you will equally enjoy a natural not over-posed new born baby picture. The biggest appeal of natural style newborn photography lies in capturing the beauty and authenticity of your child.
