Newborn family photoshoot Sydney.

I photographed this beautiful big family at their home. They just welcomed a new little boy into the family. I had a pleasure to meet them for the newborn family photoshoot and share their joy. It is wonderful to witness their happiness, these are my memories too.

This little peanut was just 6 days old. His Mum wanted a hospital photography session as she had with her older sons, they were both photographed at the age of 1-2 days old. However, not everything we planned happens during this unprecedented year… She booked an in-home newborn photoshoot instead and we took plenty of beautiful photos of her family and new born baby. I love how that green wrap looks on the photo below. The little boy looks like a sprout. New life and new beginnings!

This little cutie was unsettled the day before. Mum was thinking to move the shoot for a few days forward. However, with the big family, it was easier to organise everyone on weekend. We’ve decided to stick to the original plan. We got very lucky as the baby was much happier and settled on the next day, we had a very successful photo shoot.

I often get called by parents as a “baby whisperer”, this happened on that day as well. I definitely learned some tricks on how to help babies to calm. With experience working with many newborn babies and being a mum myself I often can kind of “read” baby’s facial expressions and get some clues on how they are doing. However, sometimes your baby just has a good day, and sometimes your baby experiences something unpleasant such as growing pain, tummy pain, a cluster feeding day… You never know it in advance. On the day of the photoshoot, I just go with the flow doing my best to settle little ones and take some beautiful photos for the families.
