What to Wear For Newborn Photos is the one of the first question I get asked.

There is something special about looking back on family photos over the years past. Family portraits are a moment saved in time.

Clothing and styling is a very subjective and personal choice, but there are some general recommendations that I am happy to offer.

Keep it simple.  We want to have focus on your baby and your family and not on the colours and patterns of your clothes. Try to avoid loud colours and patterns.

For family pictures, it helps to have complementary colors, so picking a color scheme you like works best. I love black, cream or white is a good option, pastels and grey work well together.

Personally, I lean towards a more casual look for photos of parents holding their newborn, for me casual clothes gives us more “homie” feeling, so I would’ve chosen nice black or neutral tops.

It is a good idea to keep some options handy with you the day of the session. I would also recommend you bring a change of clothes for yourself as surprise ‘accidents’ can happen when you are holding your baby during the nappy-free part of the newborn photography session.
